Borneo is the third-largest island in the world and is located in Southeast Asia. It is divided among three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. The Indonesian part of Borneo is known as Kalimantan, while the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak occupy the northern part of the island. Brunei, a sovereign state, is situated on the northwestern coast of Borneo.

Borneo is renowned for its remarkable biodiversity and lush rainforests, which are some of the oldest and most complex ecosystems on the planet. The island is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including several endemic species such as orangutans, proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, and the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia.
